The Kingston FURY Renegade G5 is Kingston's Gen5 flagship NVMe SSD, built on the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller with Kioxia 218-layer BiCS8 TLC NAND and a 2GB LPDDR4 DRAM cache. Sequential reads hit 14,200-14,800 MB/s and writes reach 11,000-14,000 MB/s depending on capacity. Available from 1TB to 4TB, with an 8TB model announced.

SM2508 Platform

The SM2508 is the same controller used in the Crucial T710, but Kingston pairs it with Kioxia BiCS8 NAND instead of Micron's G9. The result is competitive Gen5 performance with strong random I/O: 2,200K/2,150-2,200K IOPS across capacities. The 2TB and 4TB models are the sweet spot, with the 1TB dropping to 11,000 MB/s writes due to fewer NAND dies.

Endurance

The Renegade G5 has notably high endurance ratings: 1,000 TBW (1TB), 2,000 TBW (2TB), 4,000 TBW (4TB). That's 1,000 TBW per TB of capacity, which is substantially higher than Samsung's 600 TBW/TB and Crucial's 600 TBW/TB. Five-year limited warranty. Best for: Gen5 builds where endurance is a priority. The 1,000 TBW/TB rating is the highest among mainstream Gen5 consumer drives. The 2TB and 4TB models deliver flagship-tier performance with best-in-class endurance.

Avoid if: You want the absolute highest sequential speeds. The Crucial T710 (14,900 MB/s reads) and T705 (14,500 MB/s reads) are slightly faster on the same SM2508 platform. If endurance isn't a concern, compare pricing against those alternatives.
