What's Different

The heatsink variant exists primarily for two use cases: PS5 expansion and motherboards without their own M.2 cooling. The PS5's M.2 slot requires a heatsink to be installed before the drive slot cover goes back on, and Crucial's integrated heatsink satisfies that requirement without sourcing a separate aftermarket piece.

PS5 Fit

The drive fits the PS5 M.2 slot (2280 form factor) and the heatsink thickness falls within Sony's clearance envelope. For a budget PS5 upgrade, it's one of the lower-friction options available.

Same Tradeoffs

Everything else from the standard P310 applies here: DRAMless architecture, HMB operation, strong read performance, and more variable write throughput under sustained load. The heatsink reduces thermal throttling risk but doesn't change the underlying controller behavior.

Limitations

If your motherboard already has a built-in M.2 heatsink, the integrated heatsink on this SKU adds nothing and may actually conflict with fitment. In those cases, the standard P310 is the same drive for less.

Best for: PS5 storage upgrades on a budget, and builds where no M.2 heatsink is present on the motherboard.
