Samsung 990 Pro w/ Heatsink - M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD - 1TB

The Samsung 990 Pro with heatsink is the same Pascal controller, V-NAND TLC, LPDDR4 DRAM drive as the bare 990 Pro, shipped with Samsung's RGB heatsink attached. Specs are identical: 7,450/6,900 MB/s sequential read/write, DRAM-backed random I/O, and AES 256-bit encryption.

The Heatsink

Samsung's heatsink includes an RGB light strip, which is either a feature or an annoyance depending on your build aesthetic. Functionally, Gen4 drives produce less heat than Gen5, so the heatsink is less critical here than on a T700 or 9100 PRO. It does help maintain consistent performance during sustained writes and keeps the controller comfortably below throttling temperatures.

PS5 Compatible

This is the variant Samsung markets for PS5 storage expansion. The heatsink dimensions fit the PS5's M.2 bay, and the 990 Pro's Gen4 speeds are well above the PS5's minimum requirements. The RGB lighting is not visible inside the PS5.

Best for: PS5 storage expansion with premium Gen4 performance. Desktop builds where you want a heatsink included and don't mind the RGB. Convenient if your M.2 slot lacks a motherboard heatsink.

Avoid if: Your motherboard already has an M.2 heatsink. The bare 990 Pro is cheaper and performs identically with third-party or motherboard cooling. The RGB heatsink may also conflict with tall motherboard heatsinks.
