Crucial P510 w/ Heatsink - M.2 PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD - 1TB

The Crucial P510 is a mid-tier Gen5 NVMe drive using Micron's G9 TLC NAND. It reaches 11,000/9,500 MB/s sequential speeds, below the T700 and the Samsung 9100 PRO, but trades some peak throughput for meaningfully lower power consumption. The heatsink is included in the box.

Where It Sits

The P510 occupies a different position than the T700 despite sharing the Gen5 label. The T700 uses the high-performance, high-power Phison E26 controller; the P510 uses a more efficient design that keeps temperatures and power draw lower under sustained load. For most real-world workloads, the gap in sequential speed between 11,000 and 12,400 MB/s is invisible.

Endurance

The 1TB variant is rated at 600 TBW, unusually high for a 1TB consumer drive. The 2TB capacity is the other available option. Five-year warranty on both.

Thermals

The included heatsink and the drive's lower power profile make it easier to live with than the T700 in thermally constrained builds. It still benefits from airflow, but the worst-case throttling scenarios that affect the T700 are less pronounced here.

Limitations

The lineup tops out at 2TB, which limits it for users who want a single large NVMe drive. Sequential write speeds at 9,500 MB/s are solid but trail the top-end Gen5 drives. The P510 is a newer product with less real-world longevity data than the T700.

Best for: Gen5 platform users who want good sequential performance with better efficiency than first-generation Gen5 drives, particularly in smaller cases where heat management is a concern.

Avoid if: You need more than 2TB in a single drive, or you're doing workloads that genuinely benefit from the higher peak sequential speeds of top-tier Gen5 drives.
